Musings and Messages: December 28, 2025

Merry Christmas! Although radio stations are no longer playing Christmas music, we are only four days into the Christmas season.

On this Holy Family Sunday, we are reminded to be thankful. In whatever we do, our first thought should be that of gratitude. Solanus Casey was fond of saying, “Give God thanks ahead of time.” Even if the event or experience doesn’t turn out as you expected, try to see God’s presence and offer thanks. This is especially difficult when receiving a bad medical diagnosis, hearing of a loved one’s passing away, or losing a job. However, when we adopt an attitude of gratitude, we often see things from a different perspective.

In your prayer this week, offer God a prayer of thanks for all that has happened to you and all that may occur in the coming year. And when things seem the bleakest, ask the Lord to help you see what you should be grateful for and offer thanks.

We have Mass on December 31 at 4:30 PM and on January 1 at 9:45 AM for the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, a holy day of obligation. Come ring in the new calendar year with prayer
