Sacred Heart Assembly No. 2599, the Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus, will be conducting their annual Flag Retirement Ceremony in the back of the St. John Vianney parish parking lot (54045 Schoenherr Rd., Shelby Twp.). The K of C Color Corp will open the ceremony, and the Old Settlers VFW Post of Shelby Township will render the 21-gun salute and play Taps to honor the retirement of Old Glory. The public and all organizations are welcome to participate.
All flags that are worn and no longer suitable for use can be placed in a box in the St. Therese Gathering Space for transport and proper disposal by the Knights of Columbus at the ceremony. You can also drop off your flags in the St. John Vianney parking lot on the morning of the event.
New 3×5-foot and 4×6-foot US-made flags will be available for purchase at the ceremony, as well.
