Musings and Messages: July 16, 2023

What kind of soil are you? In other words, how receptive are you to the Word of the Lord? Do you allow the Word of God to take root within you? Or do the problems of life prevent you from fully immersing yourself in God?

Yet even if we aren’t receptive to God’s word, it is always living and effective. The first reading from Isaiah reminds us that God has a plan and a purpose. As God says, “My word shall not return to me void, but shall do my will, achieving the end for which I sent it.”

Our task is to cooperate with God’s will in being open to hearing and implementing the Word in order that we might be converted and be an instrument of converting others to Christ.

This week ask yourself, “how receptive am I to the word of God? Do I nurture the word in order that it may bear fruit in the world?”

Have a great week,
Msgr, John
