Msgr.’s Musings & Messages (1-1-2023)

As we begin a new year, we should open our hearts to gratitude. Just as Mary was thankful to God for the gift of Jesus, so too should we be in giving thanks to God for the many gifts he has given us during the past year.

First of all, we are a great parish family, now joined with two other great parishes to form the Family of Parishes known as Disciples Unleashed. We are called to be disciples who have heard the Gospel and put it into action. We are unleashed in the sense that we have the freedom to be creative (within reason) and innovative in how we proclaim the Good News and live in our lives.

Here at St. Therese we are blessed with a wonderful staff and cadre of volunteers who help to keep our parish running smoothly. If I listed all of the different activities that have gone on during 2022, the bulletin would be several pages long. Suffice to say, each person here at St. Therese is called to be a disciple of Jesus Christ who has been commissioned (or “unleashed”) to live out the Gospel and bring people closer to God.

Thank you for all of your hard work in sharing your time, talent, and treasure to build up the Body of Christ here in Macomb County. Thank you for your generosity to the parish and to me personally for your gifts and prayers. Thank you for all of the ways in which you help to grow our parish family and invite people to experience Christ when they visit here.

I am looking forward to a great 2023 as we work together to continue the good work that God has begun in us.

Have a great week,
Msgr. John
