We all wish we were more holy than we know we are and that we often fall short of the goals we set for ourselves to do better. We may then be tempted to say ‘forget it, I am not able to do this.’
We all know at a basic level that some things we do are holy and others are not and the choice we make in that moment can set us up for success or failure. And we are talking about moments here, not hours or days or a whole lifetime. It is just one moment at a time.
As we practice doing one good thing we find the next holy thing we do is easier and we respond more fully to the positive inclination. Likewise when we deliberately do not perform a kind act or if we pursue an unholy moment, we rob ourselves of our inner peace and make it more difficult to identify and perform our next holy opportunity.
