Fish Tales: Our Common Home, Part II

“Reading about nature is fine, but if a person walks in the woods and listens carefully, he can learn more than what’s in books, for it speaks with the voice of God” (George Washington Carver).

Pope Francis tells us that “the Earth was entrusted to us in order that it be mother to us, capable of giving to each one what is necessary to live. The Earth is generous and holds nothing back from those who safeguard it. The Earth, which is mother to all, asks for respect, not violence.”

Every day gives us an opportunity to reconnect with God through encounters with nature. Next time you go for a walk, run, or hike, take out your earbuds and simply listen to the sounds of nature.
