Evangelizing with Children

Most of us are familiar with the well-known quote from Benjamin Franklin: “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn”.

We are well aware of the fact that the earlier in life that we learn about something, the sooner it begins to have practical meaning to our lives. So, teaching children about evangelization at a young age is important for all of us, whether we are their parents, grandparents, aunts/uncles, etc. We all have a role to play. Starting with a simple, age-appropriate definition is important…Perhaps something like: Helping others, as well as ourselves to grow in one’s relationship with Jesus Christ.

Here are a few simple ways to engage children:

  • Learning the importance of daily prayer
  • Starting prayer by giving gratitude
  • Prayer for a family member, a friend, a situation, etc.
  • Inviting a friend to a church event
  • Works for charity for a neighbor in need, Toys for Tots event, helping at a soup kitchen, etc.
  • Lessons in learning how to listen
  • Lessons in respecting other’s opinion

So many other ways that you can discuss and come up with on your own!!

Enjoy and have fun with this!
