First Reconciliation/First Holy Communion
In general, children are invited to prepare for celebrating the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist after one year of Catholic religious education and reaching the age of 7. Most children prepare and receive these sacraments in the second grade.
We are excited to include parents in our preparations, as home is where the faith begins to be lived! Preparation for both First Reconciliation and First Eucharist consists of the parent and child attending a comprehensive workshop, completing specific tasks at home, attending a practice, and then celebrating the sacrament.
Children begin formal preparation for Reconciliation in November, and will be invited to celebrate at a parish service in December. First Eucharist preparation begins after the New Year and our parish celebration occurs in the spring.
