Musings and Messages: May 21, 2023

Today the Church celebrates the Feast of the Ascension of Our Lord. Traditionally, it occurs 40 days after Easter. However, in recent times, some dioceses have transferred the feast to Sunday allowing for more people to attend.

The Ascension is a reminder to us that we are to follow where Jesus has gone. Our calling is to be a disciple of the Lord. Our destiny is heaven. Our future is eternity with God. We are invited to do what the disciples were commanded: to make disciples of all nations. We are evangelizers. We bring the Gospel to the world by the way in which we live our lives. The best preaching is done not with our lips but with our actions.

This week ask the Lord to help you to evangelize the world. Ask Jesus to give you the faith and the courage to go out and make disciples of others by being Christ for others.

Have a great week,
Msgr. John
