Soil is often referred to as dirt, being something impure and soiled. Regardless of what we call it, it is an internal part of our planet, Earth. Most of the food we eat is grown in soil and ground we walk on is often made up of soil. As you know, soil comes in many different forms: black, brown, red, sandy, humusy, clay, light brown, dusty, to name a few. Your senses can pick up the history of the soil by smelling the it: dry leaves, wet leaves, moss, some metals and other organic matter are all smells to which we can relate.
As with soil, each of us become who we are today because our past history of experiences in life. We, also, keep adding new layers. Which of your layers do you think stands out the most? What do you think people notice the most about you? Are there layers you wish you could change? You might not be able to change a past layer but you certainly can add a new layer.
Some day it will be our turn to return to the soil. What will your layers tell about you?
