Fish Tales: Care for Our Common Home

It may be overwhelming to consider how we can all take part in caring for and enriching our common home, Earth. However, if each of us takes a small step forward, we can make a big impact together.

“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you” (Jeremiah 1:5). We were conceived in the heart of God, and for this reason, “each of us is the result of a thought of God. Each of us is loved, each of us is necessary” (Benedict XVI, 2005).

It is our obligation to make this world a better place and show our appreciation to our Savior. Equally important is our land, our people, our education, our participatory actions, etc. Most of us have probably had the joy of planting a seed and watching a flower or crop grow. Perhaps the next step was to cultivate a small garden. Similar feelings arise when we reach out to someone in need; they make us want to help more people. It is how we show our appreciation for the life we have been given.

During the next few weeks, we will learn more about the Felician Sisters of North America’s mission of Laudato Si’, meaning “peace be with you.” Wherever your gifts lie, there is a way for us all to participate. These community actions are inspired by Pope Francis’ encyclical, Laudato Si’: On Care for Our Common Home.

Stay tuned for more in the coming weeks.
