Connecting Point

Connecting Point: November 16, 2025

The readings for this Sunday remind us that the end of time will one day come. Jesus speaks in the Gospel about wars, disasters, and a world that feels like it’s falling apart. According to Luke (21:10), “Nation will rise against nation.” It sounds frightening, and in many ways, it feels close to what we experience now. Our own lives can seem chaotic, from the stress of our daily routines to the larger struggles we see around the world. Sometimes, it feels like everything is out of control.

Yet, Jesus doesn’t want us to live in fear. Instead, He calls us to trust in Him, even when life feels uncertain. The first reading gives us a beautiful image of hope: “the sun of justice will arise with healing” (Malachi 4:2). Just as the warmth of the sun brings life and light after a dark night, God’s love and justice will bring healing to all who remain faithful. Rather than a promise of quick fixes or instant peace, it is a reminder that salvation is a long-term gift—something that unfolds in God’s time, not ours.

When life feels overwhelming, we can remember that God’s light still shines. He doesn’t abandon us in the darkness. Even in moments of confusion, He is working to bring about healing, hope, and renewal. Our role is to stay faithful, keep trusting, and live with hearts open to His presence.

As we move closer to the end of the Church year, these readings remind us to look beyond the chaos around us and focus on the lasting peace that only Christ can bring. “[T]he sun of justice will arise,” and we will find healing and joy.
