A Catholic Practice that Contributes to a Cleaner Environment

Some of us recall the Catholic practice of abstaining from meat every Friday. Most of us continue this practice, at least during Lent, as a reminder of what Christ did for us. Continuing this habit throughout the year could bring significant environmental benefits. The less meat we consume, the less slaughterhouse pollution we generate, and we reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, we convert less of our beautiful landscapes into pastures. These are just a few of the many benefits. It is worth the research and discussion to see how limiting the amount of meat we consume can help our environment.
