Musings and Messages 12-25-22 Christmas
On behalf of the staff and volunteers of St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, I want to wish a most blessed Christmas to you and your families. I also extend a heart-felt welcome to all of our visitors who have come from near and far to worship with us during this holy season.
The birth of Christ renews us and challenges us to become the light of Christ for others. At our baptism, the priest or deacon presented us with a candle lit from the Paschal Candle and told us to “keep the light burning brightly, so that enlightened by Christ, [you] may walk always as children of the light.” We rejoice this season and recommit ourselves to illumine the world, not with our light, but with the light that comes from Christ.
The shepherds followed the angels, and the Magi followed the star in order to find the Christ Child. We follow our hearts, illumined by Christ, in order to find God. The baptismal liturgy continues with these words: “persevering in the faith, may [we] run to meet the Lord when he comes with all the Saints in the heavenly court.”
During this holy season of Christmastide, may we learn to persevere in our faith by seeking out Christ as did the shepherds and the Magi. May our quest lead us ever closer to our heavenly home.
God’s blessings and peace,
Msgr. John
