Similar to gardening, when we relocate into a new house, or a new job, or a new role, we put down our roots. Just like a plant that grows in search of a new beginning, so do we. Our new surroundings nourish us, help us to grow and widen our horizons. Of course we know that roots are the primary source for plants to gain the nutrients they need to grow. Each new experience enables us to find “common ground” with our surroundings.
Here is a suggestion for something you might try…Bring yourself to the outdoors and find a tree that you admire. Lean against the tree, either by sitting or standing, whichever is most comfortable for you. Feel yourself pressing into the ground, deep into the roots. Next, reach up and imagine reaching high into the branches, so high that they reach the heavens into our Lord’s hands. Feel His warmth and smile. We take time for so many things during the day; find the time, if only a few minutes, to strengthen your relationship with Jesus.
