The work of the soil is constantly changing. One of the key players is the earthworm – the alchemist in the soil. The alchemist is something that changes things for the better. The earthworm pushes its way through darkness and death, embraces it and brings it back to new life with the organic matter that feeds our plants. This transformation happens just at the right time! We can learn from the earthworm by watching how new growth can come from despair. Similarly, we too can become the “alchemist” by waiting and acting upon the right moment to reach out to someone that appears lost and hopeless; we can help them to find new life. Our support, love and faith in God can inspire others to look forward to better times as we encourage them to reach out to our Lord.
