St. Therese of Lisieux Parish will host a milestone celebration on Saturday, June 28, honoring a century and a half of the Felician Sisters’ ministry in America. Rooted in the Franciscan charism of love and mercy, the community has spent the past 150 years shaping countless lives through education, health care, and hands-on social outreach.
The evening will be led by Sister Mary Andrew Budinski, CSSF, who will welcome guests and guide the program from prayerful opening to closing blessings.
Schedule
- 4:30 PM – Mass in the church
- 6 PM – Dinner and presentations in the Social Hall
Spotlight on Borderland Compassion
A highlight of the program is a tribute to Águilas del Desierto and Felician Sister Maria Louise Edwards, whose search-and-rescue ministry once served the Diocese of Tucson. Águilas del Desierto’s volunteer teams scour desert borderlands to locate and assist migrants in distress, living out Catholic social teaching by safeguarding human dignity.
Detroit Outreach Takes the Stage
Guests will also hear from Sister Felicity Marie Madigan of Deo Gratias Ministries in Detroit, a Felician-led initiative offering hospitality, meals, and spiritual support to neighbors experiencing homelessness or food insecurity.
A Night of Gratitude and Vision
Through storytelling, multimedia, and personal witness, Sister Mary Andrew will guide the assembly in retracing the Felicians’ journey from their 1875 arrival on U.S. shores to today’s nationwide network of schools, hospitals, and outreach centers. Parishioners and friends will celebrate past accomplishments, explore current ministries, and glimpse into future projects fueled by the same spirit of humble service.
All are welcome—long-time supporters, newcomers curious about Franciscan life, and anyone inspired by tangible works of mercy. No RSVP is required; there will be room for everyone to share in this joyful anniversary.
