Behind the Scenes Spotlight on our Maintenance Technician, Andres Rodriguez

I have been working at St. Therese for about 3 or 4 months now. I love how friendly everybody is. Everybody seems to be in a good mood when they walk in through the doors. It’s a warm ambience. I’m 30 years old, and my parents were born and raised in Puerto Rico. I was born in Germany and lived there on a military base until I was 7. Our family moved to Fort Drum, New York, for a couple of years, we moved back to Germany, and then we returned to the US. I recently lived in Virginia and Colorado, and I moved to Michigan about 9 years ago. I enjoy being here close to my family. Also, I am completing an Associate of Computer Science at Macomb Community College and plan to attend Oakland University for a Bachelor of Computer Science.

Question: What are some of your favorite pastimes?

I’m very outdoorsy. I love nature and animals. I enjoy camping and white-water rafting. One of my favorite hiking trips was the Incline in Manitou Springs, Colorado. The scenic spots with mountains and trails are my favorite. Other sports I like are skateboarding and soccer.

Question: What is your favorite way to pray?

I pray the most in the morning, before sunrise, when it’s nice and quiet. Most of the time when I pray, I have an inner monologue with the Lord. But if I know that no one is around and listening, I will pray out loud. For example, I like to go out on walks with my husky to find a quiet place to talk to God.

Question: Do you have anything else you would like to share?

My mom told me that since I was little, I’ve always been a kind and generous soul. My goal is to share this positivity throughout my life wherever I go.

Yes, Andres, I agree with your mom! You are a kind soul, and it was a delight meeting you. When you see Andres, make sure you give him a big hello!
